DO SOMETHING SOON ABOUT YOUR TOOTH DECAY

September 15, 2020 At first, you may have thought it wasn’t a big deal. You even hoped it would do away on its own. Today, you realize that isn’t going to happen. Tooth decay requires restorative dentistry, and that’s something we are happy to do for patients who visit our Jacksonville, FL dentist office. The treatment you receive will depend on how much of your tooth has been affected and how deep the decay has reached. No matter what, however, Dr. Rachel Monteiro and the rest of our team are ready. Call 904-348-0416 to get your smile back on track.

DEAL WITH THE PROBLEM

No one wants cavities, but more than 90 percent of people will have at least one. The good news is that fixing decayed teeth is a big part of restorative care. With our treatments, you can regain the function of your teeth. You can bite and chew normally again. You can eliminate the pain you may be feeling, whether it is increased sensitivity or a full-blown toothache. We don’t want you to be in pain. During your treatment, we offer multiple forms of sedation dentistry. When your treatment is complete, you can get back to feeling like yourself. The cosmetic aspects of your procedure are equally important to us. You can feel confident that your tooth will look as good or better than it did before you received your restorative care.

TAKE ACTION TO FIX YOUR SITUATION

It’s better to seek help for your tooth decay at the first signs of trouble. You may notice the discoloration of your teeth. You may notice that your teeth are feeling more sensitive to hot and cold food and drinks. Just know, that those issues will get worse over time. In the early stages, a dental filling is an effective treatment. We use a composite resin to make tooth-colored fillings for our patients. Like metal fillings, the resin restores your ability to eat. Unlike metal fillings, this gives you a natural-looking smile again. If your decay has damaged a significant area of a tooth, a filling may not be enough to fix it. This is when our dental crowns are what you need. By reshaping your tooth, we can accomplish two goals. First, we remove the decay from your teeth. Second, we create an abutment to support your crown. When it’s finished and bonded in place, your tooth can look and feel great again. A toothache could call for a different procedure. This is when a root canal may be necessary. If bacteria has caused an infection, the solution is removing the infected tissue from inside your tooth. Then, we use a special material to fill the inside of the tooth and cap that tooth with a crown. This provides protection and brings back the look and feel of a natural tooth.
