Medicare and dental care

Are you over 60 years old? Has it been more than a year since your last dental visit? Well, you aren’t alone! More than one in five adults over 60 years old have not seen a dentist in the last five years.  With some supplemental dental plans from Medicare dental care in Jacksonville can be affordable.

It is recommended that all adults over 60 receive a dental exam at least once per year, even if they aren’t experiencing any obvious problems. Regularly scheduled preventive treatment is always more affordable than waiting for costlier treatments like root canals or surgery. Maintaining healthy gums is critical.  Periodontal disease is associated with serious conditions like diabetes, stroke, and Alzheimer’s disease.

Despite the importance of oral health to overall health, Medicare does not provide benefits for dental care except in very limited cases. This leaves people paying for 100% of their dental expenses out of pocket.  There are some supplemental dental plans available for Medicare enrollees, but they have very limited coverage and restricted networks.

River Oaks Dental created a Dental Savings Plan to address these issues and make routine preventive care accessible for all patients. The Dental Savings Plan includes 2 cleanings, 2 exams, x-rays, and fluoride treatment for just $275* a year. For a household of 2, the price is just $450 a year. When dental treatment is needed, a 15% discount is given.   Unlike traditional dental plans, there is no waiting period, no maximums, no paperwork to fill out, and no claims to submit.  It doesn’t get easier than that!
